Anthony Guidera<\/strong>, known for his roles in The Godfather Part III<\/strong><\/em> and Species<\/strong><\/em>, passed away<\/a> on Saturday at the age of 65 after three weeks on life support, following a sudden cardiac arrest at his home in California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>His wife, Valarie Guidera<\/strong>, confirmed the news to TMZ<\/em> and explained that on May 11, while the couple was in the living room of their home in Southern California, Anthony collapsed without warning and his heart stopped functioning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The actor was rushed to a hospital, where he remained on life support for three weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>After that period had elapsed, and in compliance with the guidelines he had previously established himself, the doctors proceeded to disconnect him so that he could be taken home and have a natural death. The cause of death remains an enigma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valarie Guidera confirmed that Anthony collapsed at his Southern California home on May 11 and suffered sudden cardiac arrest <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Valarie, specialists have not been able to determine what caused the cardiac arrest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>The widow shared a message on Facebook on Saturday in which she expressed her grief: \u201cIt is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Anthony,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And added: \u201cWe are devastated<\/strong> and trying to breathe through the impossible, taking each moment as it comes. Please keep this eternal light in your hearts and our family in your prayers\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anthony Guidera<\/strong> was born in San Francisco on October 18, 1960.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before dedicating himself to acting, he lived for approximately a decade in Paris, where he appeared in commercials and worked as a model under the name James Guidera, in addition to participating in plays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctors disconnected Guidera from life support in accordance with the guidelines he had established before his death<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, he moved to New York, where he studied with Robert Lewis at The Actors Studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His film debut came in 1990, when Francis Ford Coppola<\/strong> chose him for The Godfather Part III<\/strong><\/em>. Guidera worked for five months on that production, where he played a bodyguard named, precisely, Anthony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That role marked the beginning of a career that would lead him to appear in some of the highest-grossing films of the nineties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1995, he joined the cast of Species<\/strong><\/em>, directed by Roger Donaldson, where he shared the screen with Natasha Henstridge. His character, Robbie, does not suspect that Henstridge’s character is a human-alien hybrid when he forces her to kiss him, with lethal consequences for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That kiss earned the couple the MTV Award for Best Kiss at the 1996 ceremony. Francis Ford Coppola chose Anthony Guidera to make his film debut in “The Godfather Part III,” where he played a bodyguard named Anthony (Video capture)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following years found him in large-scale productions. In 1996 he appeared in The Rock<\/strong><\/em>, by Michael Bay, and in 1998 he was part of the cast of Armageddon<\/strong><\/em>, also directed by Bay, in both cases in the role of a pilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the intermediate period, he participated in The Postman<\/em>, by Kevin Costner, in 1997, and in ‘Til There Was You<\/em>, by Scott Winant, that same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1999, Guidera appeared in The Annihilation of Fish<\/em>, by Charles Burnett, where he played a gun salesman, a credit that turned out to be the last of his film career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
