Santo Domingo.- <\/strong>The Dominican Government stated that the country today has a border <\/a>that is stronger, more secure, and with greater development opportunities, thanks to a comprehensive strategy that combines border security, economic stimulus, and institutional strengthening in the provinces that border Haiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In that sense, the Government will strengthen security and development at the border through the expansion of the perimeter fence and the construction of a binational market in the Restauraci\u00f3n area near the Tilory community, where commercial exchange is maintained, and its location represents significant insecurity for both Haitians and Dominicans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a lunch with media directors, President Luis Abinader, the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez Onofre, and the Minister of the Presidency, Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Paliza, presented the government strategy, which is based on three fundamental pillars: border security, connectivity, and economic development, allowing for a comprehensive intervention along the 391 kilometers of land border shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the presentation, the Minister of Defense explained that the Government’s vision for border development is articulated under the STRONG concept, a comprehensive strategy that combines Border Fortification, National Unity, Infrastructure Strategy, Economic Resilience, Territorial Transformation, and Stability and Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also present at the presentation were the Commander of the Army of the Republic, Major General Jorge Iv\u00e1n Camino, the Director General of Customs, Nelson Arroyo, and the Director General of Migration, Major General Lee Ballester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was highlighted that the Border Fortress is supported by the tactical and operational deployment of the Armed Forces, the strengthening of military control, and the unprecedented modernization of surveillance systems along the entire border line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, the National Union promotes strategic investment in the border as a mechanism for national cohesion, territorial integration, and shared development, strengthening the connection of these provinces with the rest of the country under a common vision of progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Infrastructure Strategy, the Government is executing an extensive program of works that includes the paving of strategic corridors, the construction of logistics centers, and the development of modern border control posts equipped with state-of-the-art technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Economic Resilience component promotes the creation of a sustainable productive ecosystem through investment incentives, support for entrepreneurs, and the strengthening of economic activities that generate employment and well-being in border communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, Territorial Transformation seeks to reduce the historical isolation of border provinces through the modernization of road and digital connectivity, facilitating more efficient integration with the country’s main economic centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stability and Defense axis strengthens the fight against transnational crime and illicit activities, ensuring that trade and mobility at the border are developed within a framework of legality, order, and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The progress achieved in the border zone was presented, highlighting the actions executed to strengthen territorial control, improve strategic infrastructure, and generate better conditions for the development and well-being of border communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Dominican border constitutes a national priority for our government, which is why today we have great achievements to showcase in terms of security and border development, and likewise, we will continue to promote actions that guarantee the defense of sovereignty, the development of border communities, and the prosperity of the entire region,\u201d affirmed President Abinader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
