Santo Domingo<\/em> .-<\/strong> The Executive Directorate of National Irrigation Technification (TNR) and the Community Technical Institute<\/a> (ITSC) formalized an inter-institutional cooperation agreement that will allow for the launch of the country’s first Higher Technician program in Agricultural Irrigation, an initiative conceived to strengthen specialized training in the agricultural sector and promote more efficient management of water resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement was signed by the executive director of the TNR, Claudio Caama\u00f1o V\u00e9lez, and the rector of the ITSC, Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Holgu\u00edn, who highlighted the importance of joining efforts to respond to the demands of modern and sustainable agriculture in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new academic offering, approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT), constitutes a transcendental step for national technical education, as it becomes the first higher-level degree program focused exclusively on the training of specialists in agricultural irrigation systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Claudio Caama\u00f1o V\u00e9lez stated that the initiative will contribute significantly to strengthening the technical capabilities of the agricultural sector, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and the adoption of technologies that allow for the optimization of water use in agricultural production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he pointed out that the training of specialized human resources is fundamental to support the modernization processes that the Dominican countryside is experiencing, especially at a time when the efficient management of water resources has become a strategic priority to guarantee the sustainability of production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Holgu\u00edn highlighted that the agreement represents a valuable opportunity to expand the ITSC’s academic offerings and strengthen students’ practical learning spaces, aligning technical training with the real demands of the labor market and the national productive sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The higher technician in agricultural irrigation is scheduled to begin in September of this year, with the initial opening of two groups that will accommodate between 60 and 75 students.
The creation of this degree responds to the need for technicians specialized in a key discipline for agricultural development. Although there are currently professionals linked to companies that install irrigation systems, the country did not have a specific academic program that offered comprehensive training in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future graduates will be trained to design, install, operate, and maintain agricultural irrigation systems, as well as to evaluate the water needs of crops, optimize water use, and provide technical assistance to producers interested in incorporating modern technologies into their production processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this alliance, the TNR and the ITSC reaffirm their commitment to the training of highly qualified human capital, technological innovation, and the strengthening of national agriculture. The initiative will also contribute to expanding the country’s technified agricultural area, boosting sector productivity, and ensuring more efficient and sustainable management of water resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Present at the signing of the agreement were, for TNR, Antonio Cabrera, legal manager; Pablo Grimaldi, from the administrative and financial department; Jorge Soto, from Operations; Manuel Mej\u00eda, Planning and Development, as well as Eriberto Tejada, manager of the Extension and Training Division, while for the ITSC, Silvana G\u00e1lvez, academic vice-rector; Francis Castro, vice-rector of Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship; Alba Iris Contreras, legal consultant and Mat\u00edas Reynoso, teaching manager were present.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
