Bogot\u00e1, Colombia.<\/strong>\u2013 The Attorney General’s Office of Colombia<\/strong> requested this Friday the imposition of pretrial detention against the Colombian urban singer Blessd<\/a><\/strong>, his manager Santiago Jaramillo Mor\u00e1n<\/strong>, known as \u201cD\u00edmelo Jara<\/strong>\u201d, and two other people linked to his entourage, after being charged with the alleged crime of aggravated extortionate kidnapping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petition was filed during a court hearing related to events that occurred in 2022, when a man who performed as an impersonator of the artist reported having been illegally detained, threatened, and forced to sign documents to stop using Blessd’s image and name in public performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the prosecutor in the case, Piedad Mendoza<\/strong>, there are elements that justify the imposition of a custodial security measure due to the gravity of the investigated facts. The representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office maintained that the artist \u201clacks the necessary self-control\u201d to guarantee that he does not pose a risk to the victims or to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with Blessd, his artistic representative and two other people identified as Laura Moreno Restrepo and Juli\u00e1n David Giraldo Arboleda were charged. None of the accused accepted the charges brought by the Prosecutor’s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the investigation, the complainant had been summoned to an office in Medellin for a meeting related to his activities as an impersonator of the singer. However, he claimed that during the encounter he was stripped of his cell phone, intimidated, beaten, and pressured to sign an agreement that prevented him from continuing to perform using the artist’s image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prosecutor’s Office also referred to another complaint filed by individuals linked to the Colombian urban singer Emanuel Cort\u00e9s Herrera, known artistically as Pirlo, who claimed to have been illegally detained in 2024 during a private investigation related to the alleged theft of some jewelry belonging to Blessd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the hearing, the Public Prosecutor’s Office argued that the most appropriate measure is preventive detention in a correctional facility, considering that the investigated facts reflect serious conduct against people in vulnerable conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case remains in the hands of the Colombian justice system, which must decide in the coming days whether to accept the Prosecutor’s Office’s request.
