{"id":511170,"date":"2026-06-14T09:01:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T13:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/two-french-people-die-and-five-are-injured-in-an-accident-in-el-catey\/"},"modified":"2026-06-14T09:01:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T13:01:07","slug":"two-french-people-die-and-five-are-injured-in-an-accident-in-el-catey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/en\/uncategorized\/two-french-people-die-and-five-are-injured-in-an-accident-in-el-catey\/","title":{"rendered":"Two French people die and five are injured in an accident in El Catey"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>S\u00e1nchez, Saman\u00e1.<\/strong> -A tragic traffic accident recorded this Saturday night in the <a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/internacionales\/mueren-tres-marineros-indios-en\/\">community<\/a> of El Catey, S\u00e1nchez municipality, left a toll of two deceased French citizens and at least five people injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fatalities were identified as Jean Phillippe Champeaux and Severine Yvette Claudette Leuk, who were traveling in a tourist minibus heading to the province of Saman\u00e1 after having entered the country through Las Am\u00e9ricas International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when a pickup truck allegedly performed an overtaking maneuver recklessly, causing a head-on collision with the vehicle in which the tourists were traveling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to medical reports, Champeaux died as a result of severe closed head trauma and closed abdominal trauma, while Leuk lost his life after suffering severe head trauma with a fracture at the base of the skull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We recommend reading:<a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/nacionales\/mueren-exesposos\/\">Ex-spouses die in apparent femicide-suicide in Nagua<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the injured is Jorge Thomas Dishmey Amparo, the driver of the tourist bus. Victoriana Altagracia and her 14-year-old daughter, who were traveling on a motorcycle at the time of the accident, were also injured. Likewise, two Haitian citizens suffered injuries, although their identities could not be established because they were not carrying identification documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emergency units, health personnel, and competent authorities arrived at the scene and carried out assistance and transport operations for those affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bodies of the tourists were taken to the morgue of the Doctor Alberto Gautreaux Municipal Hospital, in S\u00e1nchez.
