La Vega.-<\/strong> The death of Mayki Abram Gil during a National Police operation in La Vega has generated mixed reactions in the community, while authorities maintain that the young man died during an intervention to capture him and his relatives denounce an alleged execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abram Gil was actively sought by investigative agencies for his alleged participation in several criminal acts, including the robbery of a sports betting parlor that occurred on May 25th in the center of La Vega. Furthermore, security camera footage released after the events would link him to robberies and heists committed in different parts of the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the version provided by the National Police, the young man was located during a search operation and was armed at the time of the intervention. The institution maintains that the situation led to a confrontation in which he was fatally wounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case gained notoriety after Santos Garc\u00eda, the father of the deceased, released statements in which he claimed that his son did not confront the officers and that he was shot down while his hands were raised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the father’s allegations have also generated controversy because, according to police records and publicly known background information, he had allegedly been linked in the past to proceedings related to robbery and violent acts. Despite this, his statements are part of the investigations that must be verified by the competent authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relatives of the deceased claim that there are surveillance camera recordings that could provide details about what happened during the operation. Such evidence, along with ballistic reports, testimonies, and forensic results, will be analyzed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, sectors of the community have highlighted the work of the authorities in the pursuit of individuals accused of criminal activities, especially at a time when the province has recorded concern over various acts of insecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Police reiterated that its agents acted within the framework of a capture operation against a person considered armed and dangerous, and assured that it will cooperate with any investigation that allows for the incident to be fully clarified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abram Gil’s body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), where the corresponding autopsy was performed. The conclusions of the investigations will determine the exact circumstances in which the event occurred and will allow for the establishment of responsibilities, if any.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
