Puerto Plata.-<\/strong> The rector of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Editrudis Beltr\u00e1n Cris\u00f3stomo, announced that he will submit his retirement application to the University Council in the coming days, ending a career of 55 years of uninterrupted work at the state academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made during an institutional ceremony held in Puerto Plata, where the official stated that this would be his last participation as rector in a university graduation ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beltr\u00e1n Cris\u00f3stomo expressed that he is retiring with the satisfaction of a duty fulfilled and with the conviction of having contributed to the strengthening of a more modern, competitive university that is in line with the country’s needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Together we have projected to Dominican society a different, renewed UASD, ready to lead national development,” he stated during his speech.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

When presenting a balance of his administration, he highlighted progress in academic, technological, and institutional expansion matters. Among the main achievements, he mentioned the curricular redesign, the opening of new degree programs for the 2026-2 semester, and the inauguration of the Academic Multiservice Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he highlighted the enablement of 29 academic services with online request and payment, the modernization of the postgraduate platform, and the installation of more than 32 smart classrooms in different university campuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rector also highlighted the territorial expansion of the UASD to all provinces of the country, the delivery of new university cities, the creation of 16 experimental high schools, and the reactivation of the academy’s office in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beltr\u00e1n reaffirmed that the state university continues to be one of the main avenues for social mobility in the Dominican Republic, training professionals in various areas of knowledge and strengthening its presence throughout <\/a>the entire national territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, he took advantage of the stage to urge future professionals to practice with social responsibility and to follow the example of outstanding graduates who have projected Dominican talent on international stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
