Washington\/\u00c9vian (France).-<\/strong> The President of the United States, Donald Trump<\/strong>, travels this Monday to France to participate in the G7 leaders’<\/strong> summit, after announcing an agreement with Iran to end the war and unblock the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump took off for the town of \u00c9vian at 07:15 GMT from Joint Base Andrews, in Maryland, outside of Washington, aboard the presidential plane Air Force One.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Republican leader undertook the trip after attending a UFC mixed martial arts fight night, held this Sunday at the White House gardens to mark his 80th birthday, in which the Spanish fighter Ilia Topuria, of Georgian origin, was defeated by the American Justin Gaethje in the main event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United States and Iran announced that same day that they have reached a peace agreement, mediated by Pakistan, which both parties will sign next Friday, June 19, in Switzerland.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The G7 summit in \u00c9vian, on the border with Switzerland, will be the first meeting between the leaders of the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, and Japan since the start of the war with Iran on February 28,<\/strong> which has caused serious disruptions in the global oil market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is scheduled to meet privately this Monday with French President Emmanuel Macron and participate in the G7 sessions, where he will coincide tomorrow, Tuesday, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was invited to the summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other invited world leaders will also meet in \u00c9vian, and Trump plans to hold bilateral meetings with those from Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leader seeks to refine the details of the agreement with Iran with his Arab and Muslim allies<\/strong>, although neither Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are expected to be present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement, whose announcement Trump pushed to coincide with his birthday, seeks to end the conflict that began after the United States and Israel’s offensive against the Islamic Republic in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement will allow the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz,<\/strong> a key route for oil trade that was blocked by Iran in retaliation for the offensive, as well as the lifting of the maritime blockade that the United States has imposed on Iranian ports since April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The details of the agreement, however, are not yet known and questions persist regarding aspects such as the Iranian nuclear program or the unfreezing of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In statements to The New York Times, Trump assured that the pact will limit Iran’s uranium enrichment to a level that cannot be used for military purposes,<\/strong> while Vice President JD Vance stated on Fox News that Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
