Honduras.-<\/strong>The Public Ministry<\/strong> confirmed that the prosecuted cases are linked to domestic violence, sexual assault, and non-compliance with resolutions issued by jurisdictional bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Domestic violence is among the most reported crimes. According to Public Ministry records, more than fifty indictments<\/strong> filed this year correspond to that crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statistics also include proceedings for violence against women, rape, sexual harassment, and sexual assault<\/strong>. Many of these files remain in various procedural stages and are still pending resolution in the competent courts.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breach of judicial measures<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Another group of cases corresponds to the crime of breach of a measure or sentence. The Prosecutor’s Office reported more than a hundred criminal actions<\/strong> against individuals who failed to comply with provisions imposed by the courts, mostly in cases linked to violence against women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those measures usually derive from judicial sentences or resolutions that establish specific obligations for the aggressors. When those provisions are breached, they can lead to new criminal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Among the measures ordered by the courts are community service aimed at generating social responsibility on the part of the offenders. <\/strong>These tasks include cleaning public spaces, maintaining green areas, clearing land, and other work coordinated by municipal or police authorities. The Public Prosecutor’s Office reported that the sentences are part of 176 criminal actions for acts affecting women and girls in Honduras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, numerous convicts failed to comply with those obligations, which led to the opening of new judicial files for contempt of provisions issued by judges. The figures show a higher incidence of that behavior between February and May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the actions of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for the Protection of Women, court agents requested arrest warrants<\/strong> in dozens of case files in which there was sufficient evidence to require the detention of the accused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In parallel, the judicial figures released by the Public Ministry<\/strong> are known in a context of concern regarding violence against women in Honduras. According to records from the Violence Observatory of the National Autonomous University of Honduras, more than 112 women<\/strong> have been murdered so far this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In many cases of femicide<\/strong>, there is a history of physical, psychological, economic, or sexual violence<\/strong>, which on different occasions were previously reported or remained invisible within the family and community environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the progress recorded in the courts, human rights specialists maintain that the challenge goes beyond judicial convictions.<\/strong> They believe that reducing violence against women requires strengthening preventive education, expanding protection mechanisms for victims, and ensuring a timely response from the institutions<\/strong> in charge of handling complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As judicial processes advance in the San Pedro Sula courts,<\/strong> statistics continue to reflect the need to maintain permanent vigilance over gender-based violence.
