Santo Domingo<\/strong>.- President Luis Abinader<\/a> <\/strong>issued Decree 393-26<\/strong>, through which he declares several plots of land located within the Cuevas de Borb\u00f3n or del Pomier Anthropological Reserve Natural Monument<\/strong> to be of public utility and social interest, a measure aimed at strengthening the conservation of one of the most important natural, archaeological, and cultural heritage sites in the Dominican Republic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision will allow for the expansion of protection, monitoring, environmental restoration, and preservation actions for this protected area located in the San Crist\u00f3bal province, ensuring the sustainability of its natural resources and its historical legacy for present and future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative reaffirms the Government’s commitment to the defense of national heritage and the protection of spaces of high ecological and scientific value, in compliance with the State’s responsibility to preserve its environmental and cultural wealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make this comprehensive protection possible, the decree contemplates the acquisition of the lands located within plot number 405 of cadastral district number 02 of the San Crist\u00f3bal municipality, through the procedures established by law and with resources from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The provision instructs the corresponding institutions, including the Ministry of Environment, the General Directorate of National Assets, the State Attorney, and the Title Registry, to carry out the necessary administrative and legal actions for the execution of the measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decree establishes that, if an agreement is not reached with the owners regarding the value of the land, the Ministry of Environment will carry out the corresponding legal procedures for its acquisition, in accordance with the law and with the institution’s funds. Furthermore, it provides for the necessary administrative actions by the competent entities and is based on Law 492 of 1969 and other provisions that protect the Pomier Caves as a national heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decree number 393-26 was issued by President Luis Abinader on June 15, 2026, as part of the Government’s actions aimed at strengthening the protection of the Cuevas de Borb\u00f3n or del Pomier Anthropological Reserve Natural Monument, ensuring the protection of a unique archaeological treasure in the Caribbean and strengthening the country’s commitment to environmental conservation and the protection of its historical identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
