His plea deal reduced the charge from first-degree rape, which carries an automatic life sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Days before Tuesday&#8217;s sentencing hearing, he asked a judge to withdraw his guilty plea, claiming he &#8220;had not had sufficient opportunity to fully consider the consequences,&#8221; according to ABC affiliate WBRZ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The victim testified in court before the sentencing and asked the judge to impose the maximum sentence on Mystikal, as reported by WBRZ. The victim reportedly claimed that the rapper had beaten her, strangled her, ripped out her braids, and raped her at his home in Prairieville, about 29 kilometers from Baton Rouge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend reading:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf I did that to you, I would deserve the maximum penalty,\u201d he replied, according to the local television station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rapper&#8217;s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mystikal remains held without bond at the Ascension Parish jail since his 2022 arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Louisiana rapper achieved national recognition in the 1990s and is known for his 2000 hit &#8220;Shake Ya A**&#8221;, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Rap Solo Performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2003, he pleaded guilty to sexual assault and was sentenced to six years in prison.
