Santiago.<\/strong> Agents of the Cibao Central Regional Intelligence Sub-directorate (DINTEL), together with representatives of the Public Ministry, the SWAT team, and units of the Preventive Police, seized an arsenal of firearms, ammunition, and bladed weapons during an operation carried out in two simultaneous raids in the province of Santiago.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The main intervention was carried out in a residence located in the Arroyo Hondo sector, where a man identified as Alberto Sarante Ferreiras was arrested. At the scene, authorities located a safe containing a 9-millimeter caliber pistol with its magazine, 142 rounds, a 12-gauge shotgun with nine cartridges, and a .22 caliber hunting rifle.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

According to the authorities, the weapons and ammunition were hidden inside the safe installed in one of the rooms of the residence, which is part of a line of investigation aimed at determining the origin and legality of the seized arsenal.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Simultaneously, in a second raid carried out in the Barrio Duarte sector, in the Santiago Oeste municipal district, the agents seized five machetes, which were collected as part of the evidence for investigation purposes.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The seized evidence, along with the detainee, was placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal procedures, while investigations continue to establish possible links to criminal activities.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The National Police reported that this operation is part of the strengthening of intelligence and crime prosecution actions in the province of Santiago, with the objective of removing illegal weapons from circulation and preventing violent acts.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The authorities reiterated their commitment to continue confronting the illegal possession of weapons and criminal structures that represent a threat to citizen security.<\/p>n”\n\n“n
