SANTO DOMINGO.- The coordinator of the Public Heritage Recovery Team (ERPP), Pancho \u00c1lvarez, considered that the main defendants in the administrative corruption case known as Calamar must face a Calamar case trial on the merits<\/strong>, where the evidence can be debated and the corresponding responsibilities determined.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The statements arise amidst the questions raised by some sectors regarding the judicial process involving former officials accused of allegedly participating in a corruption network that would have affected the Dominican State.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

\u00c1lvarez rejected that the investigations could be classified as political persecution and maintained that the process must be analyzed within the mechanisms established by the justice system.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Merits trial of the Calamar case must determine responsibilities<\/h2>n”\n\n“n

The lawyer stated that the courts are the appropriate setting for the parties to present their arguments and evidence, guaranteeing respect for due process and the rights of all those involved.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

In his view, it is up to the judges to evaluate the file and determine whether there are sufficient merits to establish criminal liability or to dismiss the accusations made by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.<\/p>n”\n\n“n
