Santo Domingo.<\/strong> \u2013 The General Directorate of Information and Defense of Social Security Affiliates<\/strong> (DIDA) reiterated the call to the relatives of deceased affiliates who contributed to a Pension Fund Administrator<\/strong> (AFP), as well as to individuals who made contributions to the Individual Capitalization System<\/strong> (CCI), to verify if they have pending funds or benefits to claim.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The exhortation comes after, during the last six months, the delivery of more than RD$855 million was achieved to relatives of deceased affiliates who were unaware of their right to receive these resources.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The Director General of DIDA, El\u00edas B\u00e1ez, recalled that in August 2025 the institution alerted about the existence of more than RD$8 billion accumulated over more than two decades in Individual Capitalization System accounts belonging to deceased affiliates.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Following the disclosure of this information, the entity launched a national guidance campaign with the aim of promoting access to survivor pensions and the refund of contributions for legal heirs.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

B\u00e1ez explained that workers affiliated with the pension system should verify their status with their AFP, especially those who are no longer working, have reached the required age to retire, or have not yet received a pension, as they may have accumulated funds or benefits pending management.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Law 87-01, which creates the Dominican Social Security System, establishes that to qualify for an old-age pension under the individual capitalization regime, one must be 60 years of age and have at least 360 monthly contributions.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Likewise, he indicated that when an affiliate passes away, their beneficiaries may have the right to receive the benefits or funds accumulated in the worker’s individual account, which is why he urged family members to approach the DIDA or their AFP to receive guidance and learn about the rights that correspond to them.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

As part of the initiative, the DIDA provided more than 20,000 orientations to citizens interested in learning about the requirements and procedures necessary to access these benefits.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The actions taken allowed 2,675 families to receive RD$855,393,061.09 corresponding to accumulated funds from deceased relatives that remained unclaimed.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

According to the March 2026 bulletin from the Superintendency of Pensions (SIPEN), 1,189 survivor pension applications were approved, while another 1,807 remain in the processing stage.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The head of DIDA highlighted that during the first six months following the disclosure of the information, an unprecedented mobilization of these resources took place, achieving the delivery of more than 10% of the funds accumulated in the accounts of deceased affiliates.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

As explained, these efforts have benefited or are currently benefiting nearly six thousand Dominican families, including both concluded cases and applications that are still in process.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

B\u00e1ez pointed out that there are still thousands of people with rights yet to be exercised, so he reiterated the call to the relatives of deceased affiliates to verify if they are entitled to any economic benefit.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Likewise, he urged people who contributed to the system and have not yet received a pension to inform themselves about the benefits to which they might be entitled.<\/p>n”\n\n“n
