<strong>Austria<\/strong>, which became the newest State to accede to the Protocol, and the case of <strong>Switzerland,<\/strong> whose Parliament approved the accession and is in the <strong>process of formalizing the corresponding deposit<\/strong>.<\/p>n&#8221;\n\n&#8220;n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infobae.com\/panama\/2026\/06\/22\/panama-alberga-la-56-asamblea-general-de-la-oea-con-el-foco-en-multilateralismo-y-democracia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer which is why Foreign Minister Mart\u00ednez Acha V\u00e1squez urged the <strong>Barbadian government<\/strong> to promote the <strong>rest of the Caribbean nations<\/strong> to sign this important international agreement, which he said ensures <strong>peace, neutrality, and free transit<\/strong> through the interoceanic waterway.<\/p>n&#8221;\n\n&#8220;n<p Morris<\/strong>, as well as with <strong>Christopher Perez Sinckler<\/strong>, Minister of Foreign Affairs of <strong>Barbados<\/strong>, and with his counterpart <strong>from Haiti, Raina <strong>Forbin thanked Panama for its support<\/strong> in security matters and the fight against organized crime, in addition to raising <strong>her country&#8217;s interest in having<\/strong> the company COPA Airlines consider including <strong>the destination of Cap-Ha\u00eftien in its flights.<\/strong><\/p>n&#8221;\n\n&#8220;n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, Juraj Blan\u00e1r (left), received the invitation for his country to adhere to the Protocol of Neutrality. <\/p>n&#8221;\n\n&#8220;n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting with the <strong>representatives of the Caribbean nations<\/strong> also aimed to consolidate <strong>Panama&#8217;s strategic, commercial, and security agenda<\/strong>.<\/p>n&#8221;\n\n&#8220;n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the invitation to <strong>adhere to the protocol<\/strong> of the Treaty on the Permanent Neutrality of the Canal was also extended by Mart\u00ednez Acha V\u00e1squez to the <strong>Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, Juraj Blan\u00e1r.<\/strong><\/p>n&#8221;\n\n&#8220;n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>meetings with these authorities<\/strong> took place within the framework of the so-called <strong>High-Level Week of the Bicentennial of the Amphictyonic Congress.<\/strong><\/p>n&#8221;\n\n&#8220;n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>accession of a State to the Protocol<\/strong> of the Treaty Concerning the Permanent Neutrality and Operation of the Panama Canal means that <strong>the signatory nation<\/strong>, even without being a party to the original bilateral treaty between Panama and the United States, <strong>decides to formally recognize the permanent neutrality regime of the Canal.<\/strong><\/p>n&#8221;\n\n&#8220;n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It associates itself with its objectives and <strong>is internationally obligated to respect it<\/strong> and to ensure that the vessels flying its flag comply with the applicable rules <strong>both in times of peace and in times of war.<\/strong> Ordinary Meeting of the
