San Francisco de Macor\u00eds<\/strong>. \u2013 A Collegiate Court of the Duarte province<\/a><\/strong> postponed until next August 20 the merits trial hearing against the former councilman for the municipality of Tenares<\/strong>, El\u00edas Jos\u00e9 Polanco Taveras<\/strong>, accused of illicit migrant trafficking in connection with the disappearance of Luis Escol\u00e1stico Minaya.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The postponement was mainly due to the failure of several key witnesses summoned for the proceedings to appear, as well as the impossibility of examining the large volume of evidence in a single day, given that the court’s composition for this day was scheduled only for one session.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Upon leaving the courtroom, lawyer Guadalupe Marte explained the technical reasons that motivated the court’s decision to postpone the hearing of the case.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

“The court had a composition of only one day and, unfortunately, the entire case could not be heard because there is a large amount of evidence that must be elucidated, not just in one day, but over several<\/strong>“, detailed Marte.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The jurist confirmed that the next date set is August 20th of this year, where it is intended to definitively determine the criminal liability or lack thereof of the accused. Likewise, she specified the nature of the accusation:<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The hearing was marked by the pain and indignation of the victim’s relatives. Luis Escol\u00e1stico Minaya’s mother expressed to the media her deep frustration over the constant postponements of the legal process, which has already dragged on for more than three years without concrete answers regarding her son’s whereabouts.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Visibly affected, the mother criticized the non-appearance of the witnesses, specifically mentioning a citizen identified as Jos\u00e9 Gregorio Antonio N\u00fa\u00f1ez (known as “Goyo”), and denounced what she perceives as a lack of willingness to clarify the case.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

“It has been three years and three months since my son went missing and there is still no word of him. And who took my son from here? It was El\u00edas Polanco, when everyone knows that he takes people out of this country by paying him sums of money<\/strong>“, she expressed through tears.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The mother energetically demanded that the judicial authorities expedite the process and that those involved show their faces so that justice may be served for the disappearance of her son.<\/p>n”\n\n“n
