Washington.-<\/strong> U.S. President Donald Trump <\/a>stated this Wednesday that he does not like outgoing Colombian President Gustavo Petro “at all,” and explained that he supported president-elect Abelardo de la Espriella during the campaign, whom he described as a “fighter.”<\/p>n”\n\n“n

“I didn’t like the man who was president at all and I backed him (De la Espriella). He’s a fighter, a great fighter, a good fighter,” Trump declared to the press in the Oval Office of the White House.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Trump asserted that, with the victory of the far-right candidate, the United States achieved “a great victory” in Colombia, a country that, he said, is the “favorite place” of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whose wife is of Colombian origin.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The Republican leader stated that De la Espriella was an “unknown” and that he managed to prevail after receiving his endorsement when he was in “tenth place” in the polls.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

However, Trump announced his support for the candidate after the first round of the presidential elections, held on May 31, in which De la Espriella, from the Defenders of the Homeland movement, came in first place.<\/p>n”\n\n“n
