Tokyo, Japan.<\/strong> \u2014 A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck northern Japan this Thursday morning, causing strong tremors in several locations and being felt as far as the capital, Tokyo, according to reports from<\/a> Japanese authorities.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The earthquake was recorded around 7:30 in the morning, local time (22:30 GMT on Wednesday), with its epicenter off the coast of Iwate Prefecture and at a depth of 50 kilometers, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Some locations in Aomori Prefecture reached a level 6 on the Japanese seismic scale of seven, used to measure the intensity of ground motion and potential for damage.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Despite the magnitude of the earthquake, authorities did not issue a tsunami warning, although they are maintaining constant monitoring of the situation and urged the population to remain attentive to official information.<\/p>n”\n\n“n
