Santo Domingo.-<\/strong> The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Executive President of Banreservas<\/a>, Dr. Leonardo Aguilera, led the inauguration of the renovated Arena Banreservas Virgilio Travieso Soto, a modern sports facility that will strengthen the country’s capacity to host international competitions and major events, as part of the strategy to boost national sports infrastructure.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The president was accompanied by the first lady, Raquel Arbaje; the executive president of Banreservas, Dr. Leonardo Aguilera; the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz; and the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Paliza, who accompanied him upon his arrival at the inaugural event where representatives of the Government, sports leaders, and prominent figures of national public life were present.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Also in attendance were the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fern\u00e1ndez Onofre, ERD; the Minister of Culture, Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Salcedo; the Minister of Youth, Carlos Valdez; the President of the Banreservas Volunteers, Fernando Hasb\u00fan; the President of the Organizing Committee for the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, Jos\u00e9 P. The remodeling of the Arena Banreservas Virgilio Travieso Soto represented an investment of nearly one billion pesos and included a comprehensive transformation of its facilities to adapt them to the international standards required by the main sports competitions that the country will host in the coming years.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Among the innovations are a new professional court, a state-of-the-art 360-degree screen, completely modernized bleachers, medical and rehabilitation areas, renovated locker rooms, and an advanced security system with video surveillance. Likewise, the venue incorporates a modern air conditioning system with a capacity of up to 1,200 kilowatts, telescopic structures that allow the space to be adapted for different types of events, and specialized areas for referees, volunteers, and technical staff.<\/p>n”\n\n“n
