Santo Domingo.\u2013<\/strong> The president of the Almayanera Lions Club, Evelyn Chaparro<\/strong>, announced the opening of a collection center in Santo Domingo to gather aid for the victims of the earthquakes in Venezuela.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

During a meeting with the press, Chaparro explained that various organizations of Venezuelans living in the Dominican Republic have joined together to coordinate a solidarity response to the emergency and requested that President Luis Abinader<\/strong> facilitate a humanitarian channel to allow the transport of donations to that country.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

“We as a community have organized ourselves, several foundations that are organized here in the Dominican Republic, such as Global\u00edzate, Amigas por Venezuela, 20 Venezuela, Funcober, and Biancober. We are a community of Venezuelans who have been doing social work in the Dominican Republic for many years,” he\/she expressed.<\/p>n<\/blockquote>n”\n\n“n

The leader pointed out that, given the tragedy the South American country is going through, the main objective is to unify efforts among Venezuelans residing in the country to provide support to their compatriots.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

“In this traumatic moment that our homeland is experiencing, what we request is to unite as a nation, primarily those of us Venezuelans who are here in the country, and to be able to contribute from afar help that is so needed,” he stated.<\/p>n<\/blockquote>n”\n\n“n

Chaparro reported that the collection center will begin operating from 8:00 in the morning this Friday at the El Mill\u00f3n Lions Club<\/strong>, located on N\u00fa\u00f1ez de C\u00e1ceres Avenue, in Santo Domingo, where they will receive donations and volunteers.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Likewise, he called on companies and citizens to collaborate with essential materials to organize humanitarian aid.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

“We need volunteers, we need private companies that can donate boxes, plastic tape, adhesive tape, gloves, medical supplies, water, disposable diapers, baby food, and non-perishable food; everything that is needed for this humanitarian aid,” he indicated.<\/p>n<\/blockquote>n”\n\n“n

The president of the Almayanera Lions Club highlighted that the organizations have volunteer staff, logistics, and organizational capacity, but they require the Government’s support to transport the supplies to Venezuela.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

“The most important thing that we as a community request from President Luis Abinader is that he please open a humanitarian channel for us to send all this aid that is collected to Venezuela through a single route,” he stated.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

As explained, the community already has transportation, volunteers, and coordination mechanisms to sort and prepare the donations, so they only require government support for the air shipment of the humanitarian cargo.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Finally, Chaparro thanked the solidarity shown by the Dominican people since the tragedy occurred.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

“We have the help of the Venezuelan people and the Dominican people, who have been very condescending to us. Everyone has offered a helping hand and has been looking out for us Venezuelans and our relatives,” he concluded.<\/p>n”","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
