Santo Domingo.-<\/strong>\u00a0As part of the actions of the anti-drug trafficking plan, the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif)<\/a> has destroyed more than 33 tons of different types of drugs seized in the first half of the year in the country.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The Inacif states in a report that so far this year a total of 33,213 kilograms and 160 grams of various narcotic substances have been destroyed, including more than 6,288 kilograms corresponding to marijuana seizures in recent operations carried out in the San Jos\u00e9 de Ocoa province.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Following intelligence work carried out this month, agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) <\/a>and members of the Public Ministry, with the collaboration of other State intelligence agencies, seized 15,392 and 3,533 marijuana plants, for a total of 18,995, the largest amount of that drug seized in the country within the framework of the joint actions carried out by the authorities to confront the networks dedicated to this criminal activity.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

According to the report established by Inacif, from January 8 to June 25, 2026, the largest drug seizures have been carried out in the provinces of San Jos\u00e9 de Ocoa with more than 7,800 kilograms and in the Santo Domingo province with 5,440 kilograms and 401 grams. It is followed by Peravia with 4,198 kilograms and 107 grams and Pedernales with 3,589 kilograms and 525 grams.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

In La Altagracia, 1,497 kilograms and 626 grams of various drugs have been seized this year, while 1,160 kilograms and 648 grams were seized in operations carried out in the National District. Seizures of less than one thousand kilograms were also executed in the provinces of Barahona, La Romana, and Puerto Plata, as well as in San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, San Crist\u00f3bal, and Santiago, among other provinces in the country.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The destruction of narcotics takes place every Thursday at the facilities of the 16 de Agosto Military Camp, headquarters of the General Command of the Dominican Republic Army, located at kilometer 25 of the Duarte Highway, in the Pedro Brand municipality, Santo Domingo province. Representatives from various institutions in the country participate in the act.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The activity is carried out in compliance with the provisions of Law No. 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances of the Dominican Republic, article 92, amended by Law 17-95, of December 17, 1995, which establishes that drugs seized for violation of this law must be destroyed after being analyzed and their quality and degree of purity verified.<\/p>n”\n\n“n
