Santo Domingo, DR.-<\/strong> The senator for the National District, Omar Fern\u00e1ndez,<\/a> expressed his concern this Wednesday regarding the entry into force of new tax provisions that, as he stated, will increase withholdings and the costs of various financial operations, with direct effects on professionals, workers, and entrepreneurs.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

The legislator maintained that the measures will begin to be applied starting this Friday and warned that they will imply greater deductions for those who offer services independently, as well as an increase in some costs related to financial transactions.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Among the changes noted by Fern\u00e1ndez is the 15% withholding on invoices issued by independent professionals who provide services to companies. He explained that this provision will affect lawyers, doctors, accountants, teachers, designers, photographers, and other service providers, who will receive an amount lower than the invoiced value.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Likewise, he indicated that there will also be changes to the costs of certain bank transfers intended for the payment of loans, credit cards, and other financial commitments. He added that some withholdings applied to rents for properties leased to companies and certain charges linked to airline tickets will also be modified.<\/p>n”\n\n“n

Fern\u00e1ndez questioned that these types of measures are executed quickly, while other initiatives aimed at reducing the tax burden on taxpayers still remain pending implementation. Among them, he mentioned the elimination of the advance payment for micro-enterprises, the updating of Income Tax brackets, and the elimination of the mortgage tax, scheduled to come into effect in 2028.<\/p>n”\n\n“n
