New York.<\/strong>\u2013 Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce <\/strong>will indeed celebrate their wedding this weekend at Madison Square Garden, an official told The Associated Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For weeks, frantic speculation had intensified over whether the music superstar and the American football player’s wedding would take place during the July 4th weekend at the iconic New York venue. This week, work crews have been seen unloading equipment from trucks and a large carpet was briefly rolled out in front of one of the entrances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A law enforcement official, briefed on security plans, told the AP that the wedding will be held on Friday, preceded by a more intimate rehearsal dinner on Thursday night. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, few details have been officially confirmed, almost a year after Kelce and Swift announced their engagement via an Instagram post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below are some of the known aspects and those not yet confirmed regarding the celebration of this holiday weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Permissions and activity at Madison Square Garden<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Public records indicate that the city granted a permit for the loading and unloading of stage equipment at Madison Square Garden (MSG) between June 29 and July 4. Likewise, Winick Productions, the company responsible for organizing red carpet events for ceremonies such as the Grammys and the Tonys, as well as film premieres, requested a permit to install a tent or canopy outside the venue for an event for a maximum of 999 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While materials were being loaded into MSG this week, some reports showed video of a man in a t-shirt that said \u201cTaylor Swift Carpenters\u201d operating a machine; others captured what appeared to be a ladder being moved into the venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, New York City Council member Zohran Mamdani dodged questions on Wednesday about a possible Swift and Kelce wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, he stressed that the city was prepared for a busy holiday weekend and emphasized the importance of staying cool in the face of the predicted heat wave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple has not confirmed anything publicly, despite multiple requests from The Associated Press, including one on Wednesday, for Swift’s representative to comment on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were no public events scheduled at MSG from June 29 until a Bon Jovi concert on July 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madison Square Garden is a fortress, but it has already hosted weddings<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Madison Square Garden may not scream \u201cbridal,\u201d but the venue is available for private rentals and advertises a banquet capacity of 1,250 people or up to 2,000, if only cocktails are served. And it has hosted weddings before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sly Stone married Kathy Silva there in 1974 in front of thousands of fans. And more than 2,000 couples were married in a mass ceremony at the Garden officiated by Reverend Sun Myung Moon in 1982.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located above Penn Station, the busiest rail hub in the United States, the Garden doesn’t exactly scream \u201cprivacy\u201d either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it does have guarded entrances, a secure garage, and an absence of windows, which would allow Kelce, Swift, and celebrity guests to stay out of sight of photographers or camera drones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Privacy and security are key concerns<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

That need for privacy arose early last month, when a large tent appeared next to Swift’s property in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Although the organizers denied that the event was for Swift, a wave of speculation spread across the internet as photographers and some \u201cswifties\u201d headed to the town to see if they could catch a glimpse of a possible wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some have theorized that the stir surrounding the MSG could be an elaborate smokescreen to divert attention from the couple’s true wedding plans. Swift once wrote, \u201cNo, you can\u2019t come to the wedding,\u201d in her song \u201cBut Daddy I Love Him,\u201d something that some fans have been resharing lately as a reminder that the wedding is not supposed to be a public spectacle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security is also a primary concern. In 2024, Swift canceled three concerts in Vienna during her Eras Tour due to a foiled attack plot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York City Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch declined on Wednesday to confirm that the Swift and Kelce wedding would be held on Friday at MSG, but indicated that her department will have adequate resources at every major event throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt would be negligent of me not to mention an event we are monitoring at Madison Square Garden on Friday night,\u201d said Tisch. He added: \u201cThe New York Police Department, of course, will have an operation in place, but I am not going to go into more detail about that at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends, family, and many celebrities are expected to attend<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Swift joked in October that \u201canyone I\u2019ve ever spoken to\u201d would be invited to the wedding, telling Graham Norton that she believed \u201cthe only stressful weddings\u201d are the small ones, which force people to make aggressive cuts to the guest list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even so, exactly who would appear remains to be seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to family, Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammate, Patrick Mahomes, and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, are likely to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Swift’s side, it is also likely that close friends such as Selena Gomez, Abigail Anderson Berard, the Haim sisters, Emma Stone, and Gigi Hadid will attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swift has a history of 4th of July parties<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Swift is known for hosting elaborate parties during the American holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not long ago, fans dubbed her July 4th events \u201cTaymerica,\u201d where celebrities would appear at her Rhode Island property in red, white, and blue swimsuits and waving American flags, only to later share some photos on social media with the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The date would also fit with Kelce’s football schedule, given that the tight end once joked on his podcast \u201cNew Heights\u201d: \u201cDon’t make my friends have to choose whether or not they have to sell their tickets that week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
