Caraballeda (Venezuela) .-<\/strong> A group of rescuers is attempting this Thursday to save Fabio, a nine-year-old boy who has been trapped for eight days in the rubble of a collapsed building in the Venezuelan state of La Guaira (north, adjacent to Caracas) due to the double earthquake that has left more than 2,290 dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minor is located approximately six meters away from the rescuers, who arrived from El Salvador and Argentina, under the rubble of a twelve-story building that collapsed in the town of Caraballeda, in the coastal region, the epicenter of the devastation from the double earthquake on June 24th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rescue operation began at 23:00 local time on Wednesday (03:00 GMT today), Civil Protection, which is also on the ground, told EFE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rescue of the boy in Venezuela<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fabio’s father is awaiting the rescue, and it is suspected that the child is with a deceased person, presumably the mother, an Army officer assured EFE, but according to a rescuer, the possibility that there are more people alive with the minor has not been ruled out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rescue team has shored up the building with wood to be able to reach the child due to the weakened state of the structure, and although they are not certain of the time it will take, they assure that “this could take a while.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
