In that same setting, Zagklis presented a ball to the president as a gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reception was held in the Private Hall of the government house, where the president and the guests discussed different topics and the success of the multi-sport event and the compliance with the required international standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The head of state was accompanied at the meeting by the country&#8217;s top sports and organizational authorities, led by Kelvin Cruz, Minister of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC); Jos\u00e9 P. Monegro, president of the Organizing Committee for the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games and director of the newspaper El D\u00eda; and Luis\u00edn Mej\u00eda, president of Centro Caribe Sports and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We recommend reading: <a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/nacionales\/abinader-inaugurara-obras-en-varias-provincias-este-fin-de-semana\/\">Abinader to inaugurate public works in several provinces this weekend<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, the national basketball sector was represented by Rafael Uribe, president of the Dominican Basketball Federation (FEDOMBAL) and Junior P\u00e1ez, first vice president of said federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dominican Republic is ready to host world-class competitions. Working in coordination with the highest basketball authorities of FIBA, Centro Caribe Sports, and local sports leadership to ensure that Santo Domingo 2026 will be a benchmark of technical and organizational excellence for the entire region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this reception, the Dominican Government consolidates the inter-institutional agenda for the Santo Domingo 2026 Games, projecting the country as the main sporting, institutional, and cultural epicenter of the Caribbean region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will be held from July 24 to August 8, 2026, making the Dominican Republic the stage for the most important multi-sport event in the region. The competition will bring together more than 6,000 athletes from 37 countries and territories, who will compete for medals representing their respective nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the sporting event, 483 events corresponding to 40 sports and 56 disciplines will be contested.
