La Vega.<\/strong>– The Public Ministry will request preventive detention against Franklyn Jos\u00e9 Alm\u00e1nzar Escarram\u00e1n<\/strong>, 51, accused of practicing dentistry illegally and causing permanent injuries<\/strong> to a woman during a surgical procedure performed at a clinic in La Vega.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same case, William Radham\u00e9s Alm\u00e1nzar Escarram\u00e1n<\/strong>, 52, the owner of the establishment where the incident occurred, was arrested and faces charges of alleged complicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the investigation, the incident occurred on January 17, 2026, when the patient went to the V Centenario Medical Center<\/strong> to undergo the extraction of four third molars<\/strong>. During the procedure, allegedly performed by Franklyn Jos\u00e9 Alm\u00e1nzar, damages were reportedly caused that resulted in permanent sequelae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The file indicates that the victim suffered nerve atrophy, moderate facial edema, myofascial pain, right mandibular paresthesia, and other complications, injuries that were certified in a medical report issued on February 5 of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the investigation, the Public Prosecutor’s Office obtained a certification from the Ministry of Public Health stating that Franklyn Jos\u00e9 Alm\u00e1nzar does not possess an exequatur, an essential requirement to practice dentistry in the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Public Prosecutor’s Office maintains that the facts constitute violations of the Penal Code, the General Health Law 42-01, and the provisions regulating the practice of dentistry in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The request for a coercive measure will be filed after the execution of the arrest warrant issued by Judge Ada\u00edas S\u00e1nchez Collado, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of La Vega.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
