Peru.-<\/strong> The president-elect of Peru, Keiko Fujimori, gave her first exclusive interview since her victory at the polls, in which she assured that she is committed to the future of her country and stated that her priority will be to restore security and stability to the Peruvian people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the conversation with journalist and speaker Ismael Cala for The Abundance Revolution<\/em> podcast, Fujimori summarized her commitment with a phrase that defined the interview: “I have decided to marry Peru,”<\/strong> explaining that she has left personal projects behind to dedicate herself entirely to leading the State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president revealed that, before achieving the presidency in her fourth electoral attempt, she considered retiring from politics to dedicate herself to writing books and giving lectures. However, she recalled that it was Ismael Cala who, during a meeting held in Spain months before the elections, assured her that she still had a political mission to fulfill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In another of the most emotional moments of the interview, Fujimori spoke about the reconciliation between her parents, the late former president Alberto Fujimori and Susana Higuchi, shortly before the latter’s passing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As she narrated, while her mother remained in intensive care, she and her brother coordinated a phone call with Alberto Fujimori, who was then deprived of his liberty. She asserted that, after hearing her ex-husband’s voice and saying goodbye to him, Susana Higuchi passed away hours later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president-elect also denied versions regarding her entry into public life when she took office as first lady at the age of 19. She explained that she initially rejected her father’s proposal due to the impact of the family divorce, but that it was her own mother who encouraged her to accept that responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the political front, Fujimori <\/a>stated that her administration will have its own hallmark, based on respect for institutionalism, democracy, and the rule of law, while rejecting comparisons that present her as a continuation of her father’s government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he identified crime and citizen insecurity as the main challenges of his administration and assured that he will work to recover the tranquility and trust of the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
