Santo Domingo.\u2013<\/strong> The former secretary general of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD),<\/a> Charlie Mariotti Tapia, assured that the organization is “growing and strengthening” ahead of the upcoming elections, by projecting Gonzalo Castillo as the future president of the Republic and highlighting the governing legacy of former president Danilo Medina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mariotti stated that the PLD is undergoing a reorganization process that, in his view, will allow for its return to power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The PLD grows, grows and strengthens with each passing day,” he expressed when referring to the work that, according to him, the organization’s leadership is carrying out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his statements, he described Danilo Medina as “the best president in the history of the Dominican Republic” and maintained that his administration has been vindicated by the citizenry due to what he defined as a “masterful, practically insurmountable” body of government work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he stated that this legacy could be surpassed by Gonzalo Castillo in an eventual government during the 2028-2032 period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The one who will surpass her will be in 2028-2032: Gonzalo Castillo, because he is human, because he is supportive, because he is humble, and because he has something fundamental: he trusts his people,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his capacity as spokesperson for Castillo’s political project, Mariotti asserted that the former Minister of Public Works is prepared to lead the country and highlighted the experience of the PLD leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He will be an extraordinary president because there is no better school of government than that of the PLD. The greatest, most thoughtful, and proven minds are in the Dominican Liberation Party, and with those men, Gonzalo will govern,” he expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leader also acknowledged that during the PLD’s years in government, some leaders distanced themselves from the membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There are colleagues who became arrogant with power and we moved far away from the grassroots,” he admitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, he maintained that Gonzalo Castillo will promote leadership that is close to both the population and the party leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
