Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2013 Journalist Ram\u00f3n Tolentino <\/a>revealed this Tuesday, during the program “Esto No Es Radio”<\/strong>, the amount that, according to him, the appointment of the executive commissioner for the reform of the National Police has cost the Dominican State, amidst the criticism the institution’s transformation process has received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tolentino explained that President Luis Abinader appointed, in January 2024, through decree 52-24, the Colombian Luis Ernesto Garc\u00eda Hern\u00e1ndez as executive commissioner for the implementation of the plans, strategies, and policies for the transformation and professionalization of the National Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the communicator, said designation included his incorporation into the public payroll with a monthly salary of RD$2,000,000. He asserted that, to date, the State has allegedly disbursed around RD$60,000,000 for his remuneration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his speech, Tolentino questioned the results of the police reform and pointed out that, despite recent events that have generated criticism against the institution, including the death of a young man in the Herrera sector allegedly at the hands of police officers, the actions or plans promoted by the commissioner within the framework of the National Police transformation are not publicly known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he urged President Luis Abinader to repeal the decree that appointed Garc\u00eda Hern\u00e1ndez, considering that his administration has not produced positive results in terms of citizen security and has represented an expense for the State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
