Santiago.<\/strong>\u2013 The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services<\/a> of Santiago, presided over by Judge Yeritza Cabral, imposed three months of preventive detention on a Colombian citizen and periodic reporting to two other men, accused of being part of an alleged gang dedicated to following and robbing people who made bank withdrawals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The magistrate partially granted the Public Prosecutor’s Office’s request and ordered pretrial detention for Gustavo Andr\u00e9s Rinc\u00f3n Granados, 38. Meanwhile, Edwin Santiago Osorio Rodr\u00edguez, 26, and Jeffersin Trujillo Tovar must comply with periodic reporting during the judicial process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the indictment, the defendants allegedly stole RD$1 million from a person who had just left a banking institution in Santiago. To carry out the robbery, they allegedly punctured one of the victim’s vehicle tires, causing it to lose air gradually and forcing them to stop at a repair shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigations establish that, while the victim was attending to the breakdown, the accused took advantage of a moment of carelessness to open the car and take the money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Public Prosecutor’s Office maintains that the defendants operated under a previously planned method, in which they identified clients who withdrew large sums of cash from banking entities, followed them without arousing suspicion, and waited for the opportune moment to commit the robbery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three men were arrested in the parking lot of a shopping center in Puerto Plata during an operation carried out by agents of the Central Investigation Directorate (Dicrim), following intelligence work that allowed the alleged perpetrators to be located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the arrests took place in Puerto Plata, the jurisdiction for the proceedings lies with the courts of Santiago, as it was in this province where the incident occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authorities reported that the alleged criminal structure was dismantled, although efforts continue to locate and capture a fourth individual, who remains at large.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
