Cabarete, Puerto Plata.<\/strong> A few weeks away from hosting the competitions for the 2026 Santo Domingo Central American and Caribbean Games, the beaches of Cabarete will once again become the main stage for water sports with the celebration of the twentieth edition of the Cabarete Classic<\/strong>, an event that will serve as preparation for the official sub-venue of the regional tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized by the renowned water sports promoter Pablito Guzm\u00e1n<\/strong>, the traditional event will bring together more than 80 national and international athletes from July 25th to 29th, consolidating Cabarete as one of the most important destinations in the Caribbean for the practice of these disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 edition will include windsurfing, kitesurfing, wingfoiling, windsurf foil<\/strong> competitions and will mark the debut of kitesurf foil<\/strong>, expanding the event’s sports offerings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Guzm\u00e1n, athletes and amateurs from the age of six from the United States, Cura\u00e7ao, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Switzerland, England, Canada, Saint Martin, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic will participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The event was born in 2006 with the intention of keeping the spirit of windsurfing alive in Cabarete and bringing together friends from all over the world in a gathering that would highlight the importance of this discipline,” the organizer expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the competitions, the Cabarete Classic will offer an extensive program of complementary activities, including sports talks, meetings between participants, and artistic performances during the evenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration of the event takes on special significance this year, as it will allow for testing the logistics, facilities, and organization of the Cabarete sub-venue ahead of the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, where the municipality’s beaches will host the water sports competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With two decades of history, the Cabarete Classic continues to consolidate itself as the flagship event for wind and sea sports in the Dominican Republic and as an international promotional platform for one of the country’s most iconic tourist destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
