The mechanization of the Dominican sugar industry has reached historic levels in the last 5 years, rising from 1 to 70 percent, improving its productivity efficiency and eliminating thousands of foreign laborers who were involved in sugarcane harvesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The information was received by President Luis Abinader during a meeting he held today with the executives of the country’s main sugar mills at the National Palace, where they reviewed the issues concerning this important productive sector of the national economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was attended by Messrs. Jos\u00e9 Pepe Franjul Jr., Leonardo Matos, and Eduardo Mart\u00ednez, on behalf of Central Romana; Benigno Trueba, representing Ingenio CAEI; and Virgilio P\u00e9rez Bernal and Jaime Bonifacio for Ingenio Barahona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Lu\u00eds Abinader was accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, Yayo Sanz Lovat\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
