The authorities included field testing, registration, and classification of each type of drug before their destruction. According to the <strong>PNC<\/strong>, multiple tons of drugs have been seized so far this year, and distribution networks have been dismantled in key cities such as <strong>San Miguel<\/strong> and <strong>San Salvador<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>El Salvador<\/strong>, drug-related crimes are governed by the <strong>Regulatory Law on Drug-Related Activities (LRARD)<\/strong>. This regulation establishes penalties ranging from 1 to 15 years in prison, depending on the type and quantity of the drug seized, as well as the purpose of the possession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A package of narcotics, verified and signed by the authorities, is prepared for the disposal process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The law classifies crimes mainly into three categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Possession and Holding (article 34):<\/strong> For quantities of less than 2 grams, the penalty ranges from 1 to 3 years in prison. If the quantity is equal to or greater than 2 grams, the penalty is 3 to 6 years in prison.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Illicit Trafficking (article 33):<\/strong> When it is proven that the drugs are possessed for the purposes of commercialization, storage, export, or distribution, the penalty is set between 6 and 10 years in prison.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transactions and Related Activities (article 46):<\/strong> Financial or commercial operations involving assets derived from drug trafficking are punishable by 8 to 15 years in prison.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These legal provisions seek to differentially sanction possession for personal consumption, trafficking, and money laundering operations related to drug trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Combating drug trafficking represents a priority for Salvadoran authorities.
