San Crist\u00f3bal.\u2013<\/strong> Former President Hip\u00f3lito Mej\u00eda<\/a> and the Mayor of the National District, Carolina Mej\u00eda, attended the wake of educator Freddy Garc\u00eda this Friday, where they emotionally remembered Do\u00f1a Rosa G\u00f3mez de Mej\u00eda, highlighting the close friendship the teacher maintained with their family for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visibly moved, Hip\u00f3lito Mej\u00eda lamented the passing of the renowned professor, who died of a heart attack, and stated that the news made him relive the pain he felt with the passing of his wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I didn’t want to believe it. I found out half an hour ago, a terrible loss,”<\/em> expressed the former president. He added that Garc\u00eda was a figure very dear to his entire family and highlighted his dedication to education and the training of several generations of young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her part, Carolina Mej\u00eda could not hold back her tears in front of the master’s coffin, whom she described as a brother. She explained that the bond with Garc\u00eda was born many years before political activity, thanks to the friendship he cultivated with her parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor highlighted the work he performed for more than four decades at the Instituto Polit\u00e9cnico Loyola, as well as his commitment to education, youth, and people with limited resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also recalled that, after the passing of Do\u00f1a Rosa G\u00f3mez de Mej\u00eda, Freddy Garc\u00eda never stopped attending the masses held in her memory, a gesture that, as he said, demonstrates the human quality that characterized him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wake, held at La Esperanza funeral home in San Crist\u00f3bal, brought together family, friends, authorities, and leaders of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), including provincial director Rafael Salazar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Salazar highlighted the educator’s career, whom he defined as a tireless defender of the social, cultural, and environmental causes of San Crist\u00f3bal. He recalled his participation in the protection of the Pomier Caves, his work at the Loyola Polytechnic Institute, and his commitment to various community initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
