{"id":514781,"date":"2026-07-11T10:46:38","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T14:46:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/two-men-sentenced-to-30-and-15-years-in-prison-for-murder-in-santiago\/"},"modified":"2026-07-11T10:46:38","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T14:46:38","slug":"two-men-sentenced-to-30-and-15-years-in-prison-for-murder-in-santiago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/en\/uncategorized\/two-men-sentenced-to-30-and-15-years-in-prison-for-murder-in-santiago\/","title":{"rendered":"Two men sentenced to 30 and 15 years in prison for murder in Santiago"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Santiago.<\/strong>\u2013 The First <a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"674892\">Collegiate Court of Santiago sentenced two men to 30 and 15 years<\/a> in prison after finding them guilty of the murder of Ram\u00f3n Eliseo Mercedes Mel\u00e9ndez, known as <strong>Adelin<\/strong>, during an incident that occurred in January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sentence of <strong>30 years<\/strong> was imposed on H\u00e9ctor Yobani Garc\u00eda Cabrera, alias Jovanny or Yoba, identified as the material author of the crime, while Ambiorix de Jes\u00fas P\u00e9rez Varga<strong>s<\/strong>, alias <strong>Jairo<\/strong>, was sentenced to <strong>15 years<\/strong> in prison for his participation in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Public Prosecutor&#8217;s Office investigation, one month before the homicide, Garc\u00eda Cabrera had attacked the victim due to old personal conflicts. The first incident occurred on <strong>December 25, 2024<\/strong>, when Mercedes Mel\u00e9ndez was leaving her home in the La Mina sector of Hato del Yaque and was shot several times, one of which struck her in the left thigh. On that occasion, she managed to survive after receiving medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the attack, the victim filed a formal complaint with the authorities. However, while Garc\u00eda Cabrera was being sought for that incident, he allegedly planned the murder together with P\u00e9rez Vargas, which was carried out on <strong>January 25, 2025<\/strong>, around 11:30 in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigations establish that both were traveling in a car driven by P\u00e9rez Vargas until they located Mercedes Mel\u00e9ndez on La Rotonda street, in the La Mina sector.
