Preliminary information indicates a toll of around 16 fatalities<\/strong>, in addition to the injured<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>The magnitude<\/strong> of the result changes between preliminary versions<\/strong>: first, 6 injured<\/strong> were reported, but more recent reports place the figure near 16 dead<\/strong>, with several wounded<\/strong> and missing persons. The authorities<\/strong> have not taken a position on this matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For its part, the National Guard Highways<\/strong> reported that there is a total closure<\/strong> due to the road accident<\/strong> in Jalisco<\/strong>, at kilometer 066+500 of the Guadalajara-Tepic<\/strong> highway, near the Plan de Barrancas<\/strong> Toll Booth<\/strong>, in the direction of the capital of Nayarit, according to the highway authority’s posts on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>The corporation asked to follow<\/strong> traffic signs<\/strong> and take precautions<\/strong> when driving through the area. As an alternate route<\/strong>, the National Guard<\/strong> Highways recommended using the Guadalajara-Tepic Free Highway<\/strong>. Emergency<\/strong> services are already attending to the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the highway account, traffic<\/strong> is moving at a slow pace<\/strong> towards Guadalajara<\/strong> in the slow lane<\/strong>, while personnel work<\/strong> at the scene<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nayarit state police officers wounded after an ambush in Huajicori<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a previous operation in Huajicori, security forces detained 20 hitmen and seized 12 long guns, 3,500 cartridges, 75 magazines, and eight improvised explosive devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five state police officers<\/strong> from Nayarit<\/strong> were wounded<\/strong> on July 10 in an ambush<\/strong> near Pachecos, in Huajicori<\/strong>, a mountainous area where the drug cartel<\/strong> dispute had already caused the displacement<\/strong> of 33 communities and around 100 families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack occurred<\/strong> in a municipality that had already experienced a recent day of armed conflict. In a previous operation<\/strong> in Huajicori, security<\/strong> forces detained 20 hitmen<\/strong> and seized 12 long guns<\/strong>, more than 3,500 cartridges<\/strong>, 75 magazines<\/strong>, and eight improvised explosive devices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five injured agents<\/strong> received specialized medical attention<\/strong> and, as of the time of this publication, their condition remains stable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Government of Nayarit<\/strong> reported that, under the instructions of Governor<\/strong> Miguel \u00c1ngel Navarro Quintero, comprehensive medical care<\/strong> was provided to the injured personnel<\/strong>. The state administration ensured services<\/strong> and resources<\/strong> for their recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the aggression<\/strong>, state and federal authorities<\/strong> maintained a coordinated operation<\/strong> to locate<\/strong> and arrest those who allegedly participated<\/strong> in the attack. The State Police<\/strong>, the Secretariat of National Defense<\/strong>, and the National Guard<\/strong> intervened in these actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aggression<\/strong> against the police officers was recorded<\/strong> in an area where another armed confrontation<\/strong> had already broken out days earlier. On March 17, the municipal seat of Huajicori experienced clashes<\/strong> between the CJNG<\/strong>, allied with Los Chapitos<\/strong>, and the Los Mayos<\/strong> faction for control of the territory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
