The Dominican government expanded the \u201cRural Woman\u201d program fund to RD$250 million, an initiative promoted by the Agricultural Bank (Bagr\u00edcola) and the Ministry of Women, to strengthen the economic autonomy of female rural producers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The administrator of the Agricultural Bank, Fernando Dur\u00e1n, made the announcement yesterday during the loan delivery ceremony for RD$17.7 million, at an annual rate of 8%, to 22 female farmers from San Jos\u00e9 de Ocoa, Hermanas Mirabal, San Crist\u00f3bal, Monse\u00f1or Nouel, and S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the activity, held in the municipal district of Blanco, Monse\u00f1or Nouel province, Dur\u00e1n said that \u201cRural Woman\u201d constitutes a specialized financial product, conceived to respond to the needs of rural women through preferential conditions that include interest rates from 0% to 8%, facilitating access to credit to boost agricultural production, strengthen entrepreneurship, and generate greater development opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“With this program, we are providing rural women with a financial instrument designed for them, with preferential conditions that allow them to access credit, invest in their projects, and continue contributing to the development of the Dominican countryside,” stated Dur\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister of Women, Gloria Reyes, stated that this initiative reflects a vision of the State that recognizes the strategic role of women in rural development and is committed to strengthening their participation in agricultural production value chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The Dominican countryside has a woman’s face. This program represents a commitment to the productive integration of rural women, to their economic autonomy, and to a development model that recognizes and strengthens the contribution they make every day to food production and the well-being of their communities,” the minister pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe goal is to contribute to the development of their communities, the generation of income, and the improvement of their quality of life,\u201d stated Dur\u00e1n and Reyes in their respective speeches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity was attended by the governor of the Monse\u00f1or Nouel province, Adela Tejada; the Vice Minister of Intersectoral Coordination of the Ministry of Women, Miriam Batista; and the mayor of the municipal district of Los Quemados, Jos\u00e9 Luis Tavares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, the Bagr\u00edcola directors Ana Silvia N\u00fa\u00f1ez, Gladis Cristina M\u00e9ndez Santelises, Salom\u00f3n Rodr\u00edguez and Llisel Quezada Vi\u00f1as, as well as the Entrepreneurship manager, Steven Baldera, among other executives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
