Bogot\u00e1 .-<\/strong> The president-elect of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, announced this Monday the elimination of advisory offices and agencies linked to the Presidency of the Republic, including that of the Peace Commissioner, which has led the negotiations with illegal armed groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Peace Commissioner is coming to an end, because there will be no more fake peace processes in my Government,” stated De la Espriella in a message to the country through his social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the president-elect, who will take office on August 7, among the positions he will also eliminate are the Office of the High Commissioner for National Reconciliation and the Presidential Office for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, whose functions will be assumed by the Ministries of the Interior, Foreign Affairs, and Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abelardo de la Espriella’s measures<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Starting August 7, the goal will be the safety of the people and the total dismantling of the perverse system of impunity that reigns at this moment and which will end as soon as I take office,” added De la Espriella, a critic of the ‘total peace’ policy of outgoing President Gustavo Petro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president-elect stated that when he assumes the Presidency, the ministries of Justice and the Interior, together with the commissioner for Security, a figure that does not currently exist, “have the order to dismantle immediately, in compliance with the Constitution and the law, all that impunity that takes refuge in the mirage of false peace.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warnings to the JEP and former FARC leader<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In that sense, he criticized the authorization that the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) gave to the last leader of the extinct FARC, Rodrigo Londo\u00f1o, known by the alias Timochenko during his time as a guerrilla, for a trip to Spain to participate in some conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Today we see the war criminal alias Timochenko on an international tour with a safe-conduct from those who intend to wash away his crimes with the disguise of a tribunal, the JEP. That bandit Timochenko deserves to be in prison for life. I am going to work on that,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to De la Espriella, “no apparent formalism can hide the fact that the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the FARC leaders remain unpunished.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Londo\u00f1o, who in November 2016 signed the peace agreement with then-Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, has submitted to the jurisdiction of the JEP, which imposes restorative sentences, not involving prison, on those who collaborate in clarifying the truth about what happened during the armed conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De la Espriella also criticized that the anthropologist Pilar Rueda Jim\u00e9nez, wife of the leftist former presidential candidate Iv\u00e1n Cepeda, his rival in the elections whose results he does not recognize, has resumed her work at the JEP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And what about a court that gives refuge to the family circle of the sore loser who refuses to acknowledge the results at the polls and promotes false civil disobedience, resorting to all forms of struggle precisely to destabilize democracy? While that happens, the JEP gives shelter to his wife. That is the JEP,” he pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engineer Mar\u00eda Nohem\u00ed Arboleda will be Minister of Mines and Energy for De la Espriella<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The president-elect of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, appointed engineer Mar\u00eda Nohem\u00ed Arboleda Arango this Monday as his future Minister of Mines and Energy and entrusted her with the energy strengthening of the country once he assumes office on August 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“She is a true ‘never’. She had never been in politics. She has 30 years of experience leading energy planning processes, operating electric power systems, and managing energy markets,” the president-elect detailed in a message to the country through his social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arboleda is an electrical engineer from the National University of Colombia, one of the first women to hold leadership positions in the sector, and manager of XM, a company in charge of operating the interconnected system and administrator of the country’s wholesale energy market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
