He explained that, after the adjustments made during the legislative process, a more balanced payment scale was established, mainly favoring MSMEs, which represent about 98% of the country’s business fabric.

Likewise, he highlighted that another of the advances was the exclusion of non-profit associations and institutions from the payment of this contribution, considering that it was not appropriate to tax them under the new scheme.

We recommend reading:

Rodríguez detailed that companies with sales between RD$1 million and RD$5 million will pay an annual contribution of RD$5,000; those billing between RD$5 million and RD$25 million will contribute between RD$20,000 and RD$25,000; while companies with sales of RD$50 million to RD$80 million, which would initially pay RD$260,000, will now contribute RD$155,000.

He added that companies with sales between RD$100 million and RD$300 million will pay RD$400,000; those billing between RD$300 million and RD$500 million will contribute RD$1.5 million, while the maximum amount was set at RD$2 million for those with sales exceeding RD$2,000 million.

President Luis Abinader enacted the legislation that modifies the General Law on Comprehensive Management and Co-processing of Solid Waste (Law 225-20), which was registered as Law 36-26, dated July 6, 2026, incorporating the changes previously approved by the National Congress.

Exports to Cuba

Rodríguez also assessed the reopening of egg exports to Cuba as positive, considering that the measure could contribute to reducing the oversupply that was generated in the Dominican market following the temporary closure of that commercial destination.

Moca Expo

During the event, Rodríguez also presented the details of Expo Moca 2026, which this year celebrates its thirty-fourth edition under the slogan “Commerce and Industry: A force that drives progress”.

He explained that the fair will take place from July 22 to 26 at the facilities of the Association of Provision Wholesalers of Moca (ASOMAPROM), from 10:00 a.m. to 11:40 p.m., with the purpose of strengthening trade, promoting business growth, and contributing to the economic and social development of the Espaillat province.

He indicated that more than 50 exhibiting companies will participate in this edition, in addition to public institutions and a space dedicated to entrepreneurs, with the aim of generating business opportunities, promoting strategic alliances, and projecting the commercial and industrial potential of the province.

Likewise, he reported that attendees will be able to enjoy commercial exhibitions, a varied gastronomic offer, a children’s area, artistic presentations, and activities for the whole family, making Expo Moca a space that integrates business, entertainment, and community development.

Rodríguez invited the entire population to attend the fair and thanked the sponsors and institutions that make the event possible, highlighting the support of Industrias Macier as the sponsor of the 2026 edition.

MOCA.- The president of the Association of Provision Wholesalers of Moca (ASOMAPROM), Ysmael Rodríguez, described the enactment of Law 36-26, through which President Luis Abinader modified the General Law on Integral Management and Co-processing of Solid Waste (Law 225-20), as an achievement for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
