United Nations .- <\/strong>UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres,<\/a> announced this Wednesday that he has appointed the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro S\u00e1nchez, as co-chair of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Advocates group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, appointed to this position in 2022, will continue to co-chair the group alongside S\u00e1nchez, according to a statement released by the UN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I commit to continue working to ensure that the implementation of the SDGs translates into opportunities, well-being, and prosperity for all people, leaving no one behind, while taking care of our planet for present and future generations,” S\u00e1nchez stated in the note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Spanish leader, the 2030 Agenda “is the roadmap that allows us to address the great challenges of our time and contribute to global sustainable development,” and for this reason it is necessary to “accelerate action and appeal to our collective responsibility to move forward.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UN, for its part, defined S\u00e1nchez as “a dynamic leader on key issues, including financing for development, education, equality, and climate action,” and highlighted that, under his leadership, the fourth International Conference on Financing for Development was held in Seville in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who are the SDG Advocates?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The SDG Advocates are “influential” leaders who support the UN Secretary-General in promoting “greater ambition and global action” to achieve the 2030 Agenda, according to the statement, the organization added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
