Monte Plata.-<\/strong> Ana Gerardo Aquino reported that her 20-year-old son, Redelin de Jes\u00fas,<\/a> was allegedly assaulted by an agent of the General Directorate of Migration during an operation carried out in the Los Suizos sector. She asserts that, despite having filed a formal complaint more than 12 days ago at the institution’s headquarters, she has not received a response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As explained, the incident occurred on July 3rd and was recorded by security cameras at a local grocery store. According to her version, the officers had detained a Haitian citizen and subsequently requested his son’s identity card. Although the young man stated he was Dominican and showed his document, the mother claims that one of the officers tried to tear up the ID, which caused Redelin to object and, as seen in the video, be assaulted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The complainant maintained that, after the altercation, the officer allegedly attempted to draw a firearm to intimidate the young man again. She indicated that the operation was carried out by five men and one woman, who were traveling in a unit identified with badge number 291, although she stated she did not know the identities of the officers involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ana Gerardo stated that she went to the main headquarters of the General Directorate of Migration, where she filed a formal complaint along with the video that, according to her, provides evidence of what happened. She explained that she was informed that the case would be handled immediately and that they would contact her later; however, she asserts that to date she has not received a response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given this situation, he called on the director of the General Directorate of Migration to order an investigation, identify those responsible, and clarify the facts.
