What started as stage three esophageal cancer ended up spreading and became brain tumors that took his life,” begins the statement published on Instagram by the family.

“Through radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy, and every moment of pain, I saw my father face it all with pride and courage, and with the firm conviction that, somehow, everything would turn out fine and he would win,” recalls Jackson Bryce, who asserts that “even a week before his passing,” the actor said “that he still believed he had a chance, and that he was willing to fight with all his might.”

Born on January 6, 1958, in New York City, Bryce made his screen debut in 1988 with a four-episode role as Rick Bonner in the NBC series The Facts of Life. He played the role on As the World Turns regularly from early 1982 to mid-1987, and returned for other stints in the late 80s, the 90s, and the late 2000s. In total, he was linked to the character for 280 episodes.

He was also a regular character on the series Popular, where he appeared in 43 episodes, and also in six installments of Murphy Brown.
