Spain forward Borja Iglesias said he would shake President Donald Trump’s hand if Spain defeats Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, despite his well-known political differences with the U.S. leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s final at MetLife Stadium, Iglesias acknowledged that greeting the U.S. president would be part of the post-match protocol if Spain lifts the trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I don’t want to go to jail. I hope it happens when everyone is happy, it happens quickly and I can forget about it,” the striker said with a laugh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that he has no intention of creating controversy before the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I don’t think this is the time to create controversy. People know perfectly well what I think,” Iglesias said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
