Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel said there is international interest in investing in Cuba beyond the United States, while defending the economic reforms promoted by his government amid the country\u2019s ongoing economic crisis and decades-long U.S. embargo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an exclusive interview with RT, D\u00edaz-Canel said the reforms are essential to modernize Cuba\u2019s socialist model but stressed they should not deepen social inequality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is not acceptable for us that the implementation of these transformations creates a wider gap in inequality,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cuban leader argued that the island is facing what he described as an intensified U.S. pressure campaign, including an \u201cenergy blockade,\u201d which he said has worsened shortages and affected productive sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
D\u00edaz-Canel also stated that foreign companies have withdrawn from Cuba due to U.S. pressure, while insisting that the government remains focused on attracting investment from multiple countries, not only the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cuban president accused Washington of applying a policy of \u201cmaximum pressure\u201d against the island and reiterated his government\u2019s position that dialogue is preferable to confrontation between the Cuban and American peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
