Under an agreement reached between the prosecution, the defense and the victim&#8217;s family, the defendant pleaded guilty to murder with treachery and extreme cruelty. The sentence was reduced from the 25 years sought by prosecutors after the court considered his partial compensation to the victim&#8217;s family as a mitigating factor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered J.T.V. to pay \u20ac130,000 in moral damages to the victim&#8217;s daughter, 10 years of supervised release after serving his sentence, and a 30-year restraining order prohibiting him from approaching or contacting her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the ruling, the couple&#8217;s marriage was marked by abuse, jealousy and controlling behavior. The victim had previously filed domestic violence complaints in 2021 and 2023 and had decided to seek a divorce shortly before the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities said the victim was asleep wearing earplugs when the defendant entered the bedroom with a kitchen knife and stabbed her repeatedly in the head, neck, chest, back and limbs. She died from severe blood loss and respiratory failure.
