SANTO DOMINGO<\/strong>.- The Senate of the Republic approved this Wednesday, in two consecutive readings, the bill that modifies Law 99-25, corresponding to the General State Budget for the 2026 fiscal year, so the initiative now moves to the Chamber of Deputies for its consideration and eventual approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The so-called 2026 Reformulated Budget was submitted by the Executive Branch on July 17 and includes an increase of RD$40,978.3 million in budgetary expenditure appropriations, resources that, according to the Government, will be destined mainly to the strengthening of public investment, the financing of institutional priorities, the maintenance of essential public services, and the attention to the most pressing needs of the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal also updates the Central Government’s revenue estimates, which would amount to RD$1,383,236.4 million, taking into account the performance of tax collections during the first half of the year and the additional income derived from Law 30-26, on Pro-Economic Growth Measures, Fiscal Simplification, and Mitigation of the International Crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, the project contemplates using RD$21,147.5 million corresponding to the net availability balance of the 2025 fiscal period, funds that would be allocated to address emergency situations or public calamity and other needs of the current fiscal year, without modifying the net financing approved for the Central<\/a> Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Executive Branch also requests authorization to carry out the necessary budgetary transfers between chapters and sources of financing, with the objective of optimizing budget execution without altering the general balance of public finances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Government, the reformulation responds to new economic conditions and an international scenario marked by uncertainties and external disruptions that have impacted international trade, supply chains, energy markets, and the growth prospects of the global economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The General State Budget originally approved for 2026 contemplates total revenues of RD$1,841,701.4 million and a consolidated financial deficit of RD$278,654.7 million, corresponding to the Central Government, non-financial autonomous and decentralized agencies, and public social security institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following its approval in the Senate, the Reformulated Budget must be reviewed by the Chamber of Deputies, where it will complete the corresponding legislative process before its eventual enactment and entry into force.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
