Santo Domingo Norte.- <\/strong>Marta Fern\u00e1ndez, a resident of Respaldo Mar\u00eda Marcelino Street, in the Los Guaricanos sector, described the moment of the explosion that occurred on Wednesday morning at the \u201cPamky Yani\u201d business, stating that the blast shook the entire community and caused moments of anguish among the neighbors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman said she was in her home when she heard a loud bang that, at first, she thought came from a door in her house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI went out because I heard the noise. I thought it was a door in the house that had fallen down. When I went out, that was when I saw the smoke and people shouting. That was when I found out about everything,\u201d he narrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fern\u00e1ndez stated that the explosion almost completely destroyed the establishment, which had been operating in the community for more than 30 years and was known for selling breakfasts, mang\u00fa, yaniqueques, juices, and soft drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOnly one of the four freezers they had is left,\u201d he\/she expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resident explained that initially five people were affected, but four have already been discharged, while one remains hospitalized due to the severity of the burns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe one who is hospitalized was one of the most affected. He has very severe burns, but thank God there were no fatalities,\u201d he indicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the possible causes of the incident, Fern\u00e1ndez noted that the owner’s relatives told him that a leak in a gas tank allegedly caused the explosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey say there were eight gas tanks and only one exploded. We are lucky because if the others had exploded, it would have taken out half the neighborhood,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The explosion occurred around 7:24 in the morning at the \u201cPamky Yani\u201d business, located on Respaldo Mar\u00eda Marcelino street, in Los Guaricanos, Santo Domingo Norte.
