International Desk.-<\/strong> Iran launched<\/a> drone attacks this Friday against U.S. military positions in Bahrain and Jordan, countries allied with Washington in the Middle East, in response to the North American country’s offensive, according to the Islamic Republic’s Army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iranian armed forces announced, in a statement reported by the IRNA agency, that they used drones to destroy fuel depots, warehouses, and large equipment hangars, as well as housing for U.S. forces at the Sheikh Issa base, located in Bahrain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The text also indicates that the drones also attacked aircraft and aircraft maintenance hangars, and U.S. forces barracks at the Al Azraq base in Jordan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two weeks of exchange of attacks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Iranian Army stressed in its statement that any action against the country’s “legitimate and legal” interests will lead to the deprivation of the economic and security interests of other nations in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United States intensified its offensive against Iran earlier this month, after declaring the truce agreed upon in June broken, in response\u2014it claimed\u2014to attacks by Tehran against commercial vessels in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, one of the main maritime routes for global energy transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. campaign seeks, according to President Donald Trump’s administration, to weaken the capabilities of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and protect the transit of commercial vessels, in a context of growing tension around Hormuz, one of the main hotspots of the conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar Airways suspends flights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Iran, which has responded with bombings on Middle Eastern nations allied with Washington, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Qatar, has raised the death toll to 55 since the renewed attacks against its territory began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
