S\u00e3o Paulo.-<\/strong> Brazilian senator Fl\u00e1vio Bolsonaro<\/a>, the eldest son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, will launch his candidacy this Saturday for the October presidential elections, accompanied by Argentine president Javier Milei, with the challenge of unifying a divided and conflicted right wing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Liberal Party (PL) will proclaim Fl\u00e1vio Bolsonaro as its standard-bearer at the legendary Pacaembu soccer stadium, in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo, the country’s largest electoral college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are going to restore the hope of the Brazilian people, who can no longer bear so much violence and so many unconstitutional actions. Food is very expensive, nothing works in this country, because this Government is corrupt and incompetent,” the senator stated this Friday on his social media while encouraging his followers to go to the Pacaembu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At his side will be Milei, who has traveled from Buenos Aires to support the firstborn of his ultra-ally Jair Bolsonaro, the latter disqualified and imprisoned for an attempted coup d’\u00e9tat after losing the 2022 elections to the current ruler, Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second in the polls behind Lula, the 45-year-old senator has several open fronts that have generated doubts and criticism of his political project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fl\u00e1vio Bolsonaro will be anointed by the PL without having yet defined his running mate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His wish is to be accompanied by a woman as a vice-presidential candidate. The PL sounded out the senator, agribusiness entrepreneur, and former minister of his father, Tereza Cristina Corr\u00eaa, who declined the invitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In parallel, he is seeking the support of other right-wing parties, but the negotiations are not progressing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Republicanos and the Uni\u00e3o Progressista coalition, formed by the center-right platforms Uni\u00e3o Brasil and Progressistas (PP), have not yet fully jumped on board with Fl\u00e1vio Bolsonaro, whose candidacy has been losing steam amidst family feuds and scandals over his alleged relationship with an imprisoned banker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fl\u00e1vio even confronted his stepmother, Michelle Bolsonaro, Jair’s wife and a key figure among the female and evangelical electorate, following the PL’s alliances in some states of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
