{"id":517433,"date":"2026-07-24T10:39:36","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T14:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/inposdom-dedicates-stamp-to-aida-cartagena-portalatin\/"},"modified":"2026-07-24T10:39:36","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T14:39:36","slug":"inposdom-dedicates-stamp-to-aida-cartagena-portalatin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/en\/uncategorized\/inposdom-dedicates-stamp-to-aida-cartagena-portalatin\/","title":{"rendered":"INPOSDOM dedicates stamp to A\u00edda Cartagena Portalat\u00edn"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Santo Domingo.- <\/strong>The Ministry of Women, the General Archive of the Nation, and the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM) released a commemorative postal issue dedicated to the writer, <a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/deportes\/comite-organizador-celebra-emision-postal-y-resalta-magnitud-de-juegos-centro-santo-domingo-2026\/\">researcher<\/a>, and cultural promoter A\u00edda Cartagena Portalat\u00edn, one of the most transcendent intellectual figures of the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was led by the Minister of Women, <strong>Gloria Reyes<\/strong>; the Director General of the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM), <strong>Erick Guzm\u00e1n<\/strong>; the Director of Research of the General Archive of the Nation (AGN), <strong>Idelfonso \u00c1lvarez<\/strong>, representing its head, <strong>Roberto Cass\u00e1<\/strong>, and the President of the Dominican Philatelic Society, <strong>Alejandro Vignieri.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Minister of Women, Gloria Reyes, stated that the issuance transcends a tribute to an individual trajectory, by recognizing the <strong>place of women<\/strong> in the construction of <strong>Dominican history, culture, and thought.<\/strong> She maintained that preserving the memory of Cartagena Portalat\u00edn also contributes to making visible those who, through creation and knowledge, <strong>challenged the limitations<\/strong> imposed on women <strong>and expanded the frontiers<\/strong> of the society of their time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Director General of INPOSDOM highlighted that postal issues transcend their function as a means of postage, as they constitute <strong>official documents and historical testimonies<\/strong> that preserve the memory of the people and events that have contributed to building the nation. Among her most recognized works are \u201cV\u00edspera del sue\u00f1o\u201d (Eve of the Dream), \u201cUna mujer est\u00e1 sola\u201d (A Woman is Alone), \u201cLa voz desatada\u201d (The Unleashed Voice), \u201cLa Tierra Escrita. Eleg\u00edas\u201d (The Written Earth. Elegies), and the experimental novel \u201cEscalera para Electra\u201d (Stairway to Electra), which was a finalist for the <strong>Seix Barral Biblioteca Breve Prize<\/strong> in 1969 and subsequently incorporated as a study text in international universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the commemorative issue<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the activity, researcher Ylonka Nacidit-Perdomo presented an <strong>assessment of the trajectory<\/strong> of Cartagena Portalat\u00edn, whom she defined as one of the most multifaceted Dominican intellectuals of the 20th century and an essential figure for understanding the <strong>evolution of literature<\/strong> written by women in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poet, novelist, essayist, editor, researcher, art critic, historian, university professor, museographer, anthropologist, and cultural promoter, Cartagena Portalat\u00edn developed a body of work marked by <strong>innovation, rebellion, and the defense of human freedom and dignity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The issue consists of <strong>10,000 copies<\/strong>, with a face value of <strong>RD 35.00 each<\/strong>, dimensions of 40 by 40 millimeters, a perforation of 13 \u00bd, and tropicalized gummed paper, while the composition was in charge of architect Alejandro Vignieri and it was printed by Litograf\u00eda Ferrua.
